Meeting the Needs of the Needy: A Christian Calling
The apostle James said, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction” (James 1:27, ESV). Part of the church's mission in the world is to come to the aid of those in dire need. As the body of Christ, we are heavily burdened by the desperate need of our littlest neighbors—those who are helpless, defenseless, and at risk of unimaginable harm. We believe that walking in wisdom means pursuing justice. Proverbs 24:11-12 exhorts us, "Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, "Behold, we did not know this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?" (ESV) Motivated by our love for God and our love for our preborn neighbors, their parents, and the abortion workers, our church is committed to defending the defenseless in our city.
